HELLO

(b.1987, Allentown, PA)

Hi! I'm Nina Boodhansingh, Co-owner, Director, and Curator of Midnight Galley, as well as an abstract painter and collage artist. I received an A.A. in Communications from Lehigh Carbon Community College of Pennsylvania in 2007 and a B.F.A from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2010. I am a former Resident Artist of Kutztown University (Kutztown, PA), The Cigar Factory (Allentown, PA), and The Banana Factory (Bethlehem, PA).

I am a dedicated curator, serve as a mentor to artists of all levels, and collaborate with local schools, universities, and organizations, where I generously share my knowledge and skills with the community. Being passionate about mental health, I'm eager to give back and make a positive impact in the world.

My paintings can be described as ethereal. Inspired by nature, skyscapes, landscapes, microscopic images, and the cosmos, each painting represents familiar elements within an abstract world. The surface of the work has a tangible texture built with paint, various gel mediums, sand, and/or metal leaf. Modeling layers, dimensions, and illusions of space in the paintings, the finished pieces suggest parallel, yet distant, worlds. Evoking a dream-like quality, there is a mood of calmness in each piece. I also works with collage, mixed media, and dabble in drawing. Some of my work reflects on living with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trichotillomania, and endometriosis.

Outside of the art business, I love working in my home studio, gardening, tending to a plethora of house plants, hiking, exploring nature, roller skating, and spending time with family, friends, my husband, and our super cute dog.
